The mission of UFM is “to teach and disseminate the ethical, legal, and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons.” It is the only university in the world expressly bound by its mission to promote the principles that sustain a free society.

UFM represents a culture of learning where students and teachers constantly challenge conventional methods to experience a new standard of learning, where knowledge comes from their individual interpretation of readings, lectures, and discussions. Students learn about choices, develop a positive rational capacity to be tolerant of the ideas and rights of others, and make decisions for which they take responsibility. After graduation, they leave with that knowledge and build fulfilling lives.

At UFM ethics is a principle to live by. They trust people to make decisions based on ethical judgments. They graduate students with common sense and sufficient knowledge to understand how the world works, so that they can dedicate themselves to creative activities with inventiveness and initiative. And by respecting the ethical principles of social coexistence, they will create peace and prosperity.

UFM holds that entrepreneurship is the engine of creativity and progress and encourages it through their programs and degrees.

UFM is more than a university campus. Through its various projects, they believe culture opens the door to our imagination and that stimulates critical thinking; nature as private property makes conservation an individual responsibility; the understanding and interpretation of history brings a new challenge to future generations. Education then becomes a process of discovery and not the mechanical absorption of ideas or principles.
